We have great plans to make this into an interactive
voting page as well as displaying a list of awards,
this is still only an idea and will only be implemented
sometime in the future when QFC has found a few more
caches and made their way up the rankings a bit.
If you feel like some reading, here are our thoughts
on the topic of Awards and Voting:
Awards:
An award is something a cacher can win based on
the rules that are set up for that specific award.
For example, one award could be: “Best Cacher in
the Western Cape”. The award will have one rule
which would be that the cacher must come from the
Western Cape. Awards such as this are quite
debatable, so this is where the voting comes in.
Every valid GeoCacher will be able to cast their
vote. At some point the voting is closed and the
result displayed on the page for all to see. The
cacher who won the award will get it listed in their
profile page as well. This system will be designed
that a cacher can only cast one vote, which they
can change at any point up until the voting closes.
This award system could then be used for the
Bi-Annual Awards Ceremony that was discussed in the SA Forums
Voting:
This has already been mentioned above, but it also
provides the ability to vote on other matters.
Any cacher can set up a new topic to vote for.
Example may be “Craziest Cacher This Month”…
and then everyone else will cast their votes
and the winner will appear on this page for a
short period of time. These are just fun votes
that will not be added to anyones profiles.
Administrators will be able to remove topics or
close them as they see fit.
To Conclude…
Although this might bring about more competitiveness
from various crazy cachers, we think it will make
caching a lot more exciting when there are awards
to be won, even if you only win a sucker… the finer
details to how this page will work have not been
decided yet, so if you have some crazy ideas to
share with us, or maybe you just had a bad day
and want to rant and rave, send us a message from
the Contact Us Page.
